1. Water: The first thing you want to do is drink plenty of water . The general rule is to drink half your weight in water every day. For example , if you weigh 180 pounds , then you will drink 90 oz of water every day. This may seem a lot, and is used if you are not drink much, but its so good for you and will promote weight loss .


2 . Begin walking: Get a small pedometer that counts your steps every day. Make a goal to walk at least 10,000 steps every day . If your work is generally sedentary , you will have to make an effort to get up from your desk more often and take such measures . Exit at lunchtime and go for a walk .


3.Journal: Write down what you eat in a journal. Or use an online newspaper, such as FitDay or something similar that you can track your food and your calories . The online journals are very good because they can actually track the ratios of calories / fat / protein so that you have a real than you are putting into your body counts.


4 . Measure everything!   When you think you are eating a salad , be sure and measure your salad dressing . Often people think is a serving size 2 TBS is more like 6 tablespoons . Or if you have a chicken breast on a salad that should be a 3-ounce portion , be sure and weigh it .
